On the evening of Oct. 7, 2020, at approximately 5:39 p.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with life threatening injuries on Hunt Road west of Little Mill Road in the Stony Creek area.

The driver of a 2009 Honda Fit, Elyssandra Nicole Reeves, was sent via med-flight to Chippenham Hospital where she later succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Reeves was traveling in the center of the roadway on Hunt Road when she collided head on with a 1994 Kenworth dump truck. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

According to Trooper R.D. Todd, “The vehicle driven by Miss Reeves was driving down a very narrow, unlined back road facing very bright sunlight.  I feel like the sun played a huge factor in contributing to the crash.”

Todd said that neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be contributing factors in the crash.  Reeves was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. No charges were filed.
