SUSSEX – Sussex County Public Schools had been under a Memorandum of Understand/Improvement Plan with the Virginia Department of Education since 2002.

This plan of school improvement was reestablished in 2009 and again in 2013 when Dr. Jarrett was installed as Division Superintendent for Sussex County Public Schools and initiated his detailed comprehensive plan to get all schools fully accredited in four years and realign the operations system of the school division.

Dr. Jarrett was successful in accomplishing his goal in the four year time period and earlier this month, the Sussex County Public Schools received recognition from the Virginia State Board of Education for achieving division-wide accreditation and being released from its memorandum of understanding with the state board.

Governor Terry McAuliffe flew in to Sussex the previous week to personally commend Dr. Jarrett and his team for accomplishing their goal.
