Sussex County and BSV bring the school year to life

This past year has not been particularly favorable and unfortunately, students had the last part of their school year taken from them. This has created a huge impact on their learning, personal development, and peer interaction. Sussex County and its Social Services Department have come up with a great solution to “overwhelm” students with community support. Even though a return date has not been officially announced, they want to provide our local students with resources that may not be easily accessible.

At The Bank of Southside Virginia, we heard their call and are here to help. We are aiding in promoting the word and offering drop off locations at three of our branches. Those branches are as follows; Stony Creek – 12441 Main St, Stony Creek, VA 23882, Jarratt – 211 Jarratt Ave, Jarratt, VA 23867, and Carson – 17208 Halligan Park Rd, Carson, VA 23830. Each branch has a contactless drop off location at the front entrance and please reach out to our branches individually with any additional donation questions.

Sussex County and its Social Services Department are asking for donations of school supplies and have stated “no donation of supplies too big or small.” Help our community shower students with community support by donating now until Aug. 12 at BSV’s Stony Creek, Jarratt, and Carson branches.
