SUSSEX – The numbers on the scoreboard couldn’t dampen the spirits of the crowd the Halftime Coronation Ceremony at Sussex Central High School’s 2018 Homecoming.

Several athletes and band members were represented on the court, and immediately after Chenelle Jones and DeAndaz Gray were crowned Homecoming Queen and King, Gray had to run back out on the field for the second half.

Unfortunately, even with royalty on the roster, the rebuilding team of Tigers couldn’t quite tame the Park View Dragons this year. But from the lively entrance of the Fighting Tigers Band before the game to the last whistle, fans of all ages enjoyed sharing fun, food and fellowship.

And the whisper, “Next year!” was oft repeated as proud parents beamed with pride at their kids’ participation.  Go Tigers!!!
