TOWN OF WAKEFIELD, Va. – Sussex County Sheriff’s Office detectives continue to process evidence and search for leads in a Wednesday afternoon bank robbery at the Wakefield branch of BB&T.
According to investigators, just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, a black male with a light complexion drove up to the drive-thru window of the BB&T bank in the 200 block of Railroad Avenue. When he pulled up in his vehicle, detectives said he flashed a weapon and gave the teller a note demanding money.
The teller complied with the robber’s demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of cash at the drive-thru window before the suspect drove away in what authorities describe as a light blue, 4-door Mazda sedan.
No one was hurt in the daytime robbery.
