The Surry Department of Social Services hosted its second 2016 job fair at the Surry County Parks and Recreations building Wednesday.
Many of the tables were hiring for home care specialist positions jobs created under Medicaid. Outreach Child Care and Surry Parks and Recreation stood out from the bunch, offering jobs outside of the Medicaid program.
“We are more concerned with finding the right type of person,” said Ms. Lloyd Fleury, director at Outreach Child Care. “As long as you have the right attitude and initiative, we will work with you. We want to see our employees go and get their certificates. Take one class at a time, as long as you love children.”
Fleury described Outreach Child Care’s weekly focus on a specific children’s book. The book selected is the center of a week full of activities that lend to memories we turn to our whole lives.
The Surry Parks and Recreation Department is looking for summer counselors and groundskeepers. Applicants can fill out an Application at 205 Enos Farm Drive, Surry, Virginia 23883.
