SUSSEX – Virginia State Police continues to investigate what led to the death of a Chesterfield man on Sussex County Landfill’s property Monday morning.

In a statement, Sgt. Michelle Anaya of Virginia State Police reported that just before 7 a.m. Monday, troopers were notified of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle in the 3400 block of Atlantic Lane in Sussex County.

That incident was confirmed to be fatal a short time later.

Virginia State Police’s accident reconstruction team was dispatched to the scene and authorities later identified the victim as 37-year-old William Antonio Quintanilla of North Chesterfield.

The 3400 block of Atlantic Lane is just off Cabin Point Road (Route 602) near its intersection with Route 624 and leads into the Sussex County Landfill operated by Waste Management and Atlantic Waste Disposal.
