SURRY – At last Thursday night’s regularly scheduled Surry County Board of Supervisors Meeting, the county’s newly re-designed website launch was announced in an interesting and informative presentation by Pat Bernshausen, Special Assistant to the County Administrator. Burnshausen explained that with the new re-design, Surry County will be able to increase its community engagement and enhance the communication between residents and the local government.
Following an eight month re-design process by CivicPlus, the leading government website provider, www.surrycountyva.gov now includes several key features to enhance ease of use for the site. Benefits listed included easier navigation and access to information for users, the ability of both citizens and vendors to subscribe to receive alerts when new information is published, an increased ability for citizens to perform transactions and request services online, and a simpler way to report concerns and submit requests.
Bernshausen also explained how some new featured modules will allow Surry County citizens to react remotely. These include the new Agenda Center, which will make agendas and minutes of public meetings easily accessible in multiple formats, a Request Tracker which will allow citizens to submit requests and concerns as well as tracking their requests until their issue is revolved, and a Notify Me Center which enables residents to receive a notification regarding newly published information.
Tyrone W. Franklin, County Administrator, said of the launch, “I am extremely excited about the newly designed website that we hope will be seen as user friendly and informative to the general public and citizens of Surry County.”
