Kilmarnock man charged in deadly Surry County crash

SURRY – A Kilmarnock man has been charged with reckless driving in connection with a deadly crash that claimed the life of a Surry County man earlier this week.

Virginia State Police confirmed the charges against 33-year-old Isaiah Nehemiah Hicks of Kilmarnock Wednesday, one day after the crash along Colonial Trail near Bacon’s Castle Trail where Hicks, who was behind the wheel of a Kenworth tractor trailer heading eastbound along Route 10 crossed into the westbound lanes, crashing into the driver’s side of a Hyundai sedan.

The driver of the Hyundai, 40-year-old George Linwood Fauntleroy, Jr. of Surry died on impact.

Hicks has been charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle.

According to state police, they are still investigating the crash alongside their crash reconstruction team out of Chesapeake.
