WAKEFIELD – The Wakefield Foundation’s annual Lighting of the Trees and Visit with Santa will be held on Saturday, Dec 7, from 6 p.m. til 7:30 p.m., according to Joan Drewry, President of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. And Drewry said she wants to make sure that everyone in the area knows about the event early enough to make plans to attend.

“It’s just a wonderful night of Christmas cheer,” Drewry explained. “We just want everybody to come and bring your camera and enjoy the evening. Santa will arrive on a fire truck to light the Christmas tree around 6:15 p.m.  Then the event will continue inside the Wakefield Foundation for a visit with Santa, Rudolph, and the Snow Princess!”

According to Drewry, there also will be Christmas crafts, Rudolph’s Cupcakes, hot dogs, potato chips, and lemonade for all, plus Merphi the Clown will perform balloon art as the children await their turn to sit on Santa’s lap.

“We are just so excited about the lighting of the town tree and especially about Santa and Mrs. Clause spending time with each child up in the auditorium afterward,” said Drewry. This is the real, traditional beginning of the Christmas season for us.”

The Wakefield Foundation is located at 100 Wilson Ave., Wakefield, VA.   Admission as well as all food and activities will be free and open to the public at the event, Sponsored by the Town of Wakefield and The Wakefield Foundation. For more information call 757-899-2365.
