ROANOKE RAPIDS – November 10 will be a big day for top-notch entertainment in Eastern Virginia and North Carolina. That’s when the Ceremonial Ribbon will be cut in front of a crowd of community, city, state, and local leaders signifying the Grand Opening of the Roanoke Rapids Theater. And according to family spokesperson Jack Glasure, the new owners of the state-of-the-art facility have big plans, and the innovative and gifted team in charge of making them happen promise that the opening show that evening with the Charlie Daniels Band will be only the beginning.
“We’ve already lined up a wide array of upcoming tractions,” Glasure said, “beginning Charlie Daniels Band that evening and leading to upcoming performances by the likes of Jason Michael Carroll, (Nov. 17), Chonda Pierce (Comedian, Nov. 18, 2018), Yet, I Am Still Holding On (Play, Dec 1), Parmalee (Dec. 8),and The Embers Christmas Show. ( Dec. 13)”
Equally exciting is the announcement that two days later, on November 12, they will open the Balcony Bistro and Bar in the Theater.
The Charlie Daniels Band will take the stage Saturday night to headline the Grand Reopening of the Roanoke Rapids Theater
“We’ll have a varying menu,” Glasure explained, “and Live after Five events like a sports bar, piano bar, also be live local performers as well as other promotion specials to go with shows and events. “And we’re really pleased to announce that the food service will be provided by none other than popular local chef Pete Richardson. We’ll also be showing Monday night football, Sunday sports center, college basketball and football, and popular tournaments, all in a sports bar setting, all beginning November 12. And of course, after the enthusiastic support of our Drive In Theater out back, we’ll be having regular shows there as well. Future plans include lighting up the front of the building with searchlights like a Hollywood premiere. They’ll always be on at night; you’ll have to shade your eyes to go by. That’s going to put us on the map.”
“The city has maintained the theater marvelously,” Glasure added. “The massive entertainment venue has always held unlimited potential due to its location right beside Interstate 95, halfway between New York and Miami. And there are such amazing audio and technical capabilities built into it. Besides being the front door to the Roanoke Rapids area, there are simply scores of potential fans/guests of the area coming by every single day. Now the entrepreneurial approach has opened the curtain to amazing shows and performances both inside and outside the theater.”
Some other upcoming events, according to Glasure, include producing and hosting rv, motorcycle, and music festivals, rallies, talent competitions.
“We’ll even be offering fans an opportunity to take the stage and we’ll record their experience for video and photography for their social media or personal bucket list,” he added. “There’s just so much already in the works for the newly re-opened Roanoke Rapids Theater. We’re really looking forward to the chance to show local folks as well as visitors from all over a good time with The Charlie Daniels Band this week-end, and so much more. It’s been a long time coming, and we are so excited about making this beautiful facility really shine. I just want to be here when that dot on the map turns into a star.”
